rebuilding

A friend of the homeowner is a building contractor and he and the owner's brother were rebuilding the home themselves.

I asked the contractor if volunteers such as ourselves were taking business away from area residents who needed the work.

He scoffed at that.
In essence he said there could be twice as many volunteers and it still wouldn't cut into his workload for the next 5 years.
There was so much more work then he could actually do, that he had simply quit answering his phone a few months ago.
So, if you do happen to have an insurance company that is willing to make good on their policy,
... good luck finding someone to do the work.
